A fact from Michael Beaumont, 22nd Seigneur of Sark appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 5 March 2013 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:

reaction to referendum
[edit]There seems to be a bit of conflict between the Mail and the independent on the issue of suffrage. In the Independent interview he talks about how he is happy that the Island will still be Independent. He seems reluctant about the change but not apposed to it. The Mail on the other hand does show him as apposed and a bit disgruntled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.195.244.141 (talk) 11:27, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Not abolished!
[edit]Please can the text saying the position of Seignuer has been abolished be removed. The position has in fact not been abolished and remains, all be it, with diminished powers. Jordi22 (talk) 21:22, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/lost-world-the-last-days-of-feudal-sark-421545.html This source mentions nothing of the position actually being abolished and http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=560645&in_page_id=1770 This source clearly states that the position remains. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding Jordi22 (talk) 17:11, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved to Michael Beaumont, 22nd Seigneur of Sark. Other suggestions created as redirects. Consensus is clear that the current name is not ideal, and although only two people supported "Michael Beaumont, 22nd Seigneur of Sark", no one has opposed it and it more clearly aligns with the principles of WP:AT, namely consistency and natural disambiguation. Jenks24 (talk) 06:50, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
John Michael Beaumont → Michael Beaumont – There is absolutely no need to have herhis middle name as part of the article title. "Michael Beaumont" is, unsurprisingly, much more common and would make a much more natural title. Surtsicna (talk) 10:32, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
- Move to Michael Beaumont (Sark). This is a rather confused nomination; Beaumont is male not female, and the reanming proposal is to use his middle name (rather than drop it as the rationale implies).
We already have an article at the undisambiguated title Michael Beaumont, so we can't move there. The nominator's web-search is poor, because it doesn't group the name in quote, and doesn't concentrate reliable sources (WP:COMMONNAME says its should). A Google News search throws up only one result for"michael beaumont" sark
, but no hits for"john michael beaumont" sark
. However, the Sark Govt website calls him "Michael Beaumont", so I'm happy to go with that and add "(Sark)" as a disambiguator. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:48, 1 March 2013 (UTC) - Move to Michael Beaumont (Sark) - per Google Books. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:23, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
- Comment: I copied the nomination explanation from the article about his grandmother, Talk:Sibyl Mary Hathaway, which is why I wrote "her" instead of "his". I am obviously aware that he is a he. Anyway, I did not know about his namesake. I believe the present title is better than Michael Beaumont (Sark), since the first name is a more natural way of disambiguation - unless, of course, if that is not the standard procedure. I am afraid I failed to think this one through. Surtsicna (talk) 22:40, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
- Move to Michael Beaumont (Seigneur of Sark). We do not usually use the country alone as a disambiguator. We use a description of what the person is. In reply to Surtsicna, we do not use full names as articles titles unless the individual commonly uses/used their full name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:30, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
- How about Michael Beaumont, 22nd Seigneur of Sark? This matches the other members of Category:Seigneurs of Sark with disambiguation. --BDD (talk) 20:57, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, that seems reasonable. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:00, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
